About

Welcome to the annual meeting – DGfZ 2022 in Berlin

Raluca Niesner

After two challenging years due to the pandemic, it is my greatest pleasure to announce the 32nd Meeting of the German Society for Cytometry (DGfZ), to be held from Sept, 28th to 30th, in Berlin at historical Campus Charité – Universitätsmedizin Mitte, CCO, Virchowweg 6.

Following this year’s motto “Spotlight on cells: life style and environment”, we strive to bring together experts from various disciplines for a lively discussion about game-changing technologies and their newest applications. Several invited speakers have already confirmed their attendance. We will have exciting sessions on microscopy/metabolic imaging, cutting-edge technologies, nanotechnology, microbiology, mass-cytometry, and mechano-cytometry. We are sure, this inspiring program will spark vivid discussions between scientists, technologists, and industrial partners, having the potential to give unique impulses to the cytometry science.

In addition to the well-established industry exhibition, where you will have the opportunity to directly get informed about recently launched products, we will again have the popular “Product Slam” format, where our industrial sponsors will present their newest innovations within three minutes. Learning from the pandemic, we will offer you the chance to get informed virtually about new commercial technologies during the industry webinars on Sept. 26th and 27th.

I am looking forward to welcoming you all at the DGfZ 2022 in Berlin!

Raluca Niesner
President of the DGfZ

More information on the German Society of Cytometry (DGfZ)

German Society of Cytometry

Since its foundation, the DGfZ provides a platform for interdisciplinary, scientific exchange and to promote communication and the transfer of knowledge and innovative science. Since 1994, the society has been renamed into German Society for Cytometry (DGfZ).

The tasks of the DGfZ
Cytometry is an essential analytical technique in the fields of biology, medicine and ecology. It is used to investigate cells and their genetic, biochemical and structural properties.

The annual meetings of DGfZ promote interdisciplinary exchange in basic and clinical research as well as in industrial development. For this purpose, the DGfZ creates an organisatoric structure to strengthen the science of cytometry. The focus of each meeting is the analysis of genetic, physiological, and structural processes in cells. In this sense, the DGfZ empowers methodological and technical innovations in the field of cytometry by bringing together experts from different disciplines for a lively exchange of ideas on cutting edge technologies and their latest applications.

Klaus Goerttler Prize

Announcement Klaus Goerttler Prize

The Klaus Goerttler Prize is awarded annually. It is aimed at young scientists who have completed an outstanding habilitation or doctorate in the field of cytometry. The prize is endowed with 1,000 euros and is awarded annually during the annual conference.
The prize winners can also design the Klaus Goerttler session of the upcoming conference with their own selection of speakers.

Every year again …

the society meets. The presidency is associated with the organisation of the annual conference and the meeting takes place at the president´s scientific home. The meetings brings together experts from various disciplines for lively discussions about game-changing technologies and their newest applications.

The Society’s annual meeting is characterised by a friendly and warm atmosphere where invited speakers present their latest research and prospective PhD students and post-docs get the opportunity to present their research in a stimulating yet relaxed environment. In addition, there are exciting lectures at an affordable conference price and an almost legendary evening event.

DGfZ webinars

After two virtual conferences with well-attended industry webinars, we would like to offer again the possibility to participate in online webinars. The high quality of the virtual industry webinars was confirmed by the participants. Therefore, we have set 4 slots in the pre-program of the conference. This opens the possibility of combining old and new formats and taking advantage of the learned circumstances through the pandemic.

Partners of the DGfZ live at the Product Slam

In addition to the scientific sessions, the “Product Slam” is held during the annual conference. Here, our partners from different industrial fields present their latest innovations within 3 minutes. The audience then votes for the best contribution. This event is framed by the industry exhibition, which accompanies the meeting and offers extensive technologies “to touch”.

DGfZ travel grants

During the conference, a prize is awarded to young scientists for the best speed talk. In addition to fame and honour, the winner(s) will receive 200 euros.

DGFZ Speed Talk Prize

It is an aim of the Society to encourage the active participation of young scientists in scientific meetings in the field with an individual grant to cover part of the travel costs. Master, PhD and MD students as well as young postdocs can apply for funding.
